Cool Deals Thread

Thread for posting any animation/comics/etc deals you find. I think we had a similar thread a long while back…

Amazon currently had the sets of Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain on sale for $20. For whoever’s interested in that.

I went to Best Buy today. It seems that they are having a sale on selected Funimation titles, and it’s a good one, half off on a lot of stuff. I checked it out and they seem to have the same deal going online. (I’d put a link here but it appears that triggers the local spam filter.)

I picked up these dvds (but they have bluerays on sale too):

Shigurui: Death Frenzy complete series (12 episodes) $15

xxxHolic complete first season (24 episodes) $20

Baccano! complete series (16 episodes) $20

Sgt Frog season two part two (11 episodes) $17.50

There are other titles to be snapped up but I couldn’t really afford the $75 these added up to. I may be hitchhiking to work next week as it is.

If you like good soda pop Boylan’s Creamy Red Birch Beer is delicious. (Their “Where to Get Boylan’s” store finder is only useful if you are in New York or New Jersey. I found mine at Meijer’s Thrifty Acres.)

Virgil’s Root Beer is real good, too. “We’re what Ben and Jerry’s is to ice cream.” Right. It’s made by old dirty hippies, so you know it’s good.

I came home today to find a somewhat expected package waiting for me. It was my Little Orphan Annie Decoder… no wait… it was my Pringles can speaker. It fits tightly on top of the can and works really well (It sounds kinda tinny without the can). It runs on three AAA batteries which came with it. I’m geeked. All I had to do to get it was choke down four cans of Pringles, fill out a form, send it along with my receipt and wait long enough to forget all about it. For a promo-give-away I’m really impressed by it’s quality.

My mp3 player is an older version of the Sansa Clip”. Worst case cost is $50 and so far mine has outlasted my iPod by about a year. It has a 4 gig capacity which is expandable using mini-cards. I couldn’t live without one, which is why I now have three.

Also notice where it says, “Pringles”, “ON” and “OFF”? That’s a real handy trick I learned to use wherever I find labels embedded in plastic (like the back of an amplifier or dvd player, etc. Usually they are very well defined in the plastic but are black on black (or whatever color plastic they’re molded into). Make them very easy to read as I did above by rubbing a crayon of contrasting color, forcing the wax into the letters and then rubbing away any excess with a clean rag - or a dirty one, I don’t care. I learned this trick back in my D&D days when a new set of dice came with a crayon for this very purpose.
